Bernard F. Keating | Bernard F. "Bernie" Keating was born at home in Bordentown on October 18, 1930. He attended Bordentown High School, but did not graduate. He entered the US Navy about 1950 during the Korean Conflict and served aboard the Gearing-Class destroyer, USS John A. Boyle (DD-755) in the South Pacific. He married Eleanor Stanton June 5, 1954. They had three daughters. After the war, Bernie worked for Bordentown Laundry, driving a delivery truck for a short while. He went on to work for CFI Steel in Roebling as a plant security guard until the plant closed in the 70’s. Bernie wasn’t one to sit around for long and he went back to work driving an armored tractor trailer between New York, San Francisco, the Philadelphia Mint & Fort Knox, Kentucky carrying high-value secure cargo. The family lived on Union Avenue in Delanco before moving to Edgewater Park. Bernie died in 1997 at age 68. Eleanor died in 2012 at age 78.
